We are a newly formed tenants and residents group having only established ourselves as a consitituted group in March 2008. We originally got together because we wanted access to a large room at the top of our building to use as a community venue. However, once we had established ourselves as a tenants and residents association (TRA) we quickly discovered that we could get more done as one combined voice representing eveyone who lives in the block - rather than as individuals trying to sort things out by ourselves.

We found that as a group we felt we carried more weight and got listened to more by our local Council and other service providers. We also got to understand the correct procedures for accessing help, support and services and this too has helped get things done in and around our block.

As a result things are improving in our block all the time, and we are currently involved in helping ensure the current Decent Homes improvement programme runs as smoothly as possible - and causes the minimum amount of disruption in the process.

At one point awhile ago we did experience a little anti-social behaviour in the block, but the group have been able to work with all parties concerned and this has now been resolved to everyone's satisfaction.

As a group we are still finding our feet and learning all the time. Some of the smaller improvements we have been responsible for may be taken for granted by those who live here - but they wouldn't have got done without the group pushing to make this a better environment for everyone here.

Many of the residents libing in St Clements are now of what might be described as a 'mature age' - indeed most of us are 60 plus, with some now in their seventies. However, we all still love life and socialising and part of the groups function is to encourage and foster a community spirit in the block. We are achieving this through holding regular activities and events - see our Group Activities Page for more information on the regular and one-off events we organise for residents.

If you live in our block and are experiencing any problems with your flat or any service provision please drop us a line through our email contact or call in and see one of our representatives (Dave at flat No 23 and Vic at no 7).
